Gyges was a shepherd who served the then king of Lydia. One day there was a great storm and an earthquake that ripped the earth and produced a chasm in the place where Gyges took the cattle to graze. Amazed at this, fell into the abyss and found, among other wonders that tell the myths, a bronze horse, hollow, windows, through which he saw a corpse in larger size than a man, according to looked and he had nothing except a gold ring in his hand. Gyges was amazed, then, examining the ring, turned to setting out and became discernible.
